Pest Control Recommendations To Implement Around Your Home And Yard

Pest control on your property is a real concern, especially considering the amount of damage one pest can do to your entire home or garden. From mice to grasshoppers, there are many types of pests you need to be aware of. It's important to take the steps you need to for full protection around your family. Here are some pest control recommendations for your home and yard to keep them trouble-free.

Protect Your RV

Any stored RV, such as a motor home or camping trailer that you keep on your property over the winter, is at risk of pest infestations. Although you take steps in the winter for winterizing the interior, it is also important to clean out the interior of the RV to not make it an attractive spot for pests.

Pests are attracted to the interior of your RV because it provides shelter from the weather where they can make a home. And if there is any type of food source inside your stored RV, this makes the interior all the more inviting. For this reason, when you winterize your RV, be sure to clean out the pantry and cupboards of any food and water. Then, vacuum the carpets to remove any food crumbs and mop up any spills from the laminate flooring to prevent it from being an attraction for pests.

You can also take steps to seal up exterior entry points that may allow a pest to enter your RV. This can include covering vent hatches with an additional protection and sealing up holes around pipework entryways. The less opportunity for a pest to gain entry into your RV, the less the chance they will cause damage to insulation or wiring.

For example, one mouse that finds their way into your RV can chew through insulation, wiring, and even paper products or linens stored inside your RV. They do so to look for food or to create nesting materials for their young. In addition to prevention strategies, talk to a pest control professional about treating the area around and the space inside your RV.

Consider the Garden Plot

In addition to securing your RV stored on your property, you should take into consideration the garden plot you use to grow fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Insects and bugs that overrun an area outside can eat through seeds, seedlings, and the roots of your growing vegetables. Ants are commonplace in the soil, but when they take over the soil with a nest, it can leave your garden struggling.

Look for a garden-safe pesticide to treat areas of pest problems in your garden. You can also use home remedies with options that won't leave harmful residues on your produce. Or you can talk to your pest control professional about available options for garden plots.
